Sea stories. These are the tales that Bellaria Igea Marina shares with its guests. A small and ancient fishing village has, over the twentieth century, become a renowned seaside holiday destination. Seven kilometers of beach, lined up along the Adriatic, become in summer the wide setting where you can experience and enjoy the sea.

Shallow and safe waters are a guarantee for families with children; sports and fitness equipment are especially appreciated by young people; efficient beach services, along with the legendary friendliness of the lifeguards, are perfect for those who love sun, rest, and relaxation. For those who need to gather and discuss, there is now also a modern conference center just steps from the sea.

Even in its name, whose origin experts have not clarified, Bellaria seems to suggest the beauty of the sea breeze. Writer Alfredo Panzini also noticed this, as at the beginning of the twentieth century he spent his holidays in Bellaria in that Red House which today is one of the city's symbols.

Igea Marina is named in honor of the daughter of Asclepius, the god of health and well-being. The name was given by Vittorio Belli, a naturalist doctor, who founded the town at the beginning of the twentieth century. The streets named after Latin poets and writers are also his legacy.

A monument, the 17th-century Saracen Tower, built for lookout and defense, recalls a dangerous sea, infested with fierce and unpredictable pirates, who had to be met with "arquebuses, swivel guns, powder and fuses." Stories from the past, today the Tower houses a shell museum.

In the canal port, the Teresina, a great lady of the sea, is a silent witness to that fishing tradition which provided work and bread for many families. The bragozzo, built in 1948 and retired in 1987, was restored in 2003 to remind everyone that the roots of Bellaria Igea Marina are in the sea. Roots that are still alive today.

Yellowed vintage postcards show elegant ladies strolling along the beach under their parasols. They bear witness to the dawn of tourism, a tradition of hospitality and welcoming that Bellaria Igea Marina has never abandoned since then.

On the contrary, it has strengthened and renewed it: hotels with modern and comfortable services, restaurants where you can enjoy Adriatic seafood and local farm products, facilities for all kinds of sports, a network of bars, pubs, clubs, entertainment.
A tradition of hospitality that always looks to the future.

In Bellaria Igea Marina, blue blends with green. The heart is the large Gelso park, in Igea Marina, a 25-hectare area right in the city center, where tall trees like pines and oaks alternate with shrubs in a harmony of colors and scents.

The many tree-lined avenues, such as the Isola dei Platani in Bellaria and via Ennio in Igea Marina, are the main venues for evening strolls, shopping, and also for the entertainment events that the city organizes for its guests.
